Information on the Waste Battery Ordinance
In connection with the sale of batteries or rechargeable batteries, we as retailers are obliged under the Battery Ordinance to inform our customers of the following: Old batteries can contain harmful substances that can harm the environment or your health if not stored or disposed of properly. As a consumer, you are therefore legally obliged to return old batteries to a collection point or to return them to your local retailer free of charge. We will also dispose of used batteries in the goods we offer for you free of charge and in an environmentally friendly manner if they are returned to us by post with sufficient postage. Disposal in household waste is expressly prohibited. Batteries that contain harmful substances are marked with the symbol of a crossed-out garbage can. Below this is the chemical symbol of the harmful heavy metal: Pb stands for lead, Cd for cadmium and Hg for mercury.
